Brass ball valves combined with a union nut are a type of shut-off valve used to control the flow of liquid in pipeline systems. The union nut is a detachable threaded connection. This connection allows for easy installation and removal of the valve without necessity to rotate the pipe itself, which greatly simplifies installation and maintenance process. Brass ball valves with a union nut are widely used in heating systems, water supply systems, as well as in industrial installations due to their reliability, durability and ease of use.

Ball valve with union nut design

  1. Body: Made of brass, which ensures corrosion resistance and durability.
  2. Ball plug: Inside the body there is a ball with a hole that rotates around its axis to open or close the flow.
  3. Control handle: Can be made in the form of a lever or a butterfly (depending on the model), provides easy control.
  4. Connection: Consists of a union nut and a sealing ring, which allows you to quickly connect or disconnect pipeline elements.

Advantages of ball valves with a union nut

  1. Ease of installation and dismantling: Thanks to a union nut, you can remove the valve without having to disassemble the entire system.
  2. Tightness: A high degree of tightness is achieved due to high-quality sealing materials.
  3. Durability: Ball valves have a long service life due to the durable materials of the body and mechanism.
  4. Compactness: Take up less space compared to other types of shut-off valves.

How to install a ball valve with a union nut?

  1. Turn off the water supply before starting work.
  2. Check the threads on the pipes and make sure they are compatible with the tap threads (internal / external).
  3. Apply a sealing material to the pipe threads (for example, fum tape or flax thread).
  4. Connect one part of the tap to the pipe through a union nut connection.
  5. Tighten a union nut manually until it stops, then use a wrench for final fixation without excessive force.
  6. Check tightness of the connection after supplying water.

*Int/Ext — Internal/External thread.
