Pipeline Valves

Description of Section "Pipeline Valves"

Pipeline valves are devices installed on pipelines to control flow of the working medium. They perform functions such as regulating, shutting off, distributing, mixing, or discharging the working medium. Pipeline valves are an essential part of engineering systems in various industries, including water supply, heating, gas supply, and sewage systems.

Pipeline valves are classified according to various criteria:

  1. By purpose:
    • Shut-off valves: Used to completely shut off flow of the working medium.
    • Control valves: Designed to change the flow parameters.
    • Safety valves: Provide protection for the system against exceeding permissible parameters (e.g., pressure).
    • Check valves: Prevent backflow of the working medium.
    • Shut-off and control valves: Combine functions of shut-off and control valves.
  2. By type of control:
    • Manual control.
    • Automatic control (using electric or pneumatic actuators).
  3. By material:
    • Metal (steel, cast iron, brass, aluminum).
    • Polymer (plastic).
  4. By connection method to the pipeline:
    • Threaded connection.
    • Flanged connection.
    • Welded connection.
